The Officina product family by Scanmikael offers both a lightweight non-acoustic solution and a fully glazed sound-insulated office system – tailored to meet the specific requirements of the space. Designed especially for environments where flexibility and spatial adaptability are essential, the system allows easy modification: elements can be added or removed, and door positions can be changed as needs evolve. The doors are available as either sliding or hinged options.

The fire-rated glass walls in the project were implemented using Alufire’s fire-certified glass wall systems, constructed with durable aluminium. Alufire’s solutions allow for frameless vertical joints between glass panels, eliminating the need for mullions or visible profiles. This ensures that the fire-rated glass wall is not only safe, but also elegantly minimal in design.

Project story

LIGHT AND SPACIOUS WITH SCANMIKAEL GLASS SOLUTIONS

Veho, one of the leading players in the Finnish automotive industry, built the largest commercial vehicle center in the Nordics in Vehkala, nestled between Ring Road III and Highway 3. The construction was completed at the end of 2021. The facility, Veho Vehkala, covers approximately 12,000 square meters.

The spacious showroom and customer service areas were created using Scanmikael’s airy glass partitions, which allow natural light to flow freely throughout the space.
In total, the project includes nearly 500 m² of glass walls and 36 glass doors. Additionally, the second-floor railings are made of glass. The result is a clean, bright, and modern environment where open public areas and quiet meeting rooms blend seamlessly.

Careful Planning and Strong Partnerships

Scanmikael’s partition walls were part of the project already during the preliminary offer phase, in close collaboration with the construction company Varte Oy.

“Already in early 2020, we began exploring solutions and detailing specific features together—particularly regarding fire-rated glass. It took about a year to finalize the full package before signing the agreement,” says Heikki Laaksonen, Project Sales Engineer at Scanmikael.
Although Veho Vehkala is a large project, its implementation followed Scanmikael’s familiar process from tender to installation. Design details were refined along the way in cooperation with the architect and contractor.

In addition to Scanmikael’s in-house glass walls and sliding doors, products from long-term partners were used. For example, 27 m² of frameless fire-rated glass walls—available only from a few manufacturers—were supplied by Alufire.
“Sound insulation was also essential in this environment, especially for the meeting and office spaces surrounding the showroom on two levels. We achieved the typical insulation level of 37 dB,” Laaksonen explains.

A Maintenance-Free Solution

Scanmikael’s service model includes expert design, high-quality products and technical solutions, installation, and comprehensive maintenance guidelines. For projects with movable elements, we also provide user training.
“These Veho Vehkala solutions are maintenance-free—made of aluminum and glass, with ball-bearing rollers in the sliding doors. All installers of the fire-rated glass walls received dedicated training, and an Alufire mentor was present during installation to ensure quality,” Laaksonen notes.
